I am a native of the Southern Region of Appalachia, After living in several other parts of the country, I was called home to Asheville in 2003. My life has been a journey of healing, a path which began through the lens of Social Sciences/Psycho-Spiritual analysis. In my mid 20’s I developed a fascination with the intersectional of Mind-Body-Spirit. It was through this exploration, and subsequently my own healing journey, that I was inspired in 2012 to enroll in AB Tech’s Therapeutic Massage Program. Upon graduating, I began exploring various modalities to find my focus with massage therapy. How would I serve the best? was the driving question. I took a continuing education class with Cat Matlock and recall thinking that there was no reason to take CE’s from any other provider/instructor. I was amazed with her knowledge of the body, and the human being as a whole. The trigger point therapy that I learned from her was incredibly effective in alleviating pain and just the direction I was looking for. I decided then to pursue specializing in Trigger Point Therapy. I was inspired to be able to offer those suffering with physical pain an alternative to opioids and other painkillers. I wanted to help people truly heal.
When I heard that Cat was creating a mentorship program and had put out a “call” for massage therapists to apply if they knew they wanted to learn effective skills for helping people get out of pain, I immediately applied to the program. I was thrilled to be accepted in early 2017, and continue to learn and grow as a therapist under Cat’s guidance. It is truly an honor and privilege to serve my community in this capacity.
