We’re going to start by listening to your story. Then, we will ask you to map where you pain is for us so that we can tailor the session to meet your needs.
Every session begins with breathing practices scientifically proven to reduce tension and stress in the nervous system. Once your nervous system is in a greater state of ease, we will target the soft tissue systems that are causing your discomfort.
It is the therapist’s job is to find those most tender places in your body and release the tension that is located there. These points can often feel extremely tender. For this reason, we empower every client to guide our pressure. You can always ask for more or less pressure in any session at any time.
After your session, your therapist may make suggestions for your self care moving forward. You might be given a ball or other recommend tools for your home care in order to significantly speed up your recovery and transformation.
Do I need to bring anything?
If you have copies of your xrays, PT exercises, and the like, you are welcome to bring those for us to add to your chart.
Will I be sore afterwards?
Sometimes. As we are addressing tensional imbalances in your body your nervous system might be confused at first. We are giving the nervous system a lot of new information to process and the result could be some muscle soreness. Soreness should not last more than 24-48 hours. Often folks experience some minor degree of soreness the first time or two as we are training your nervous system. After that, and the nervous system begins to get what we’re doing, you should not feel sore after your therapy.
What should I do after my session?
We recommend that you move your body for a little while after your session. Going for a walk or doing a light yoga/stretching practice can help your body process the new information after releasing tensional imbalances. We do not recommend you go sit for long periods of time immediately after your session if that can be avoided.
